Last week, I introduced you to Violet.

Violet is presence.
Violet is authority.
Violet doesn’t bark because she doesn’t need to.

She walks into a room and the room adjusts.

Today, I’d like you to meet Rita.

Rita weighs 4.5 pounds.
Rita barks whenever she wants to.
And Rita believes everything is her responsibility.

If Violet represents quiet authority, Rita represents something equally important in security:

Early warning.

Rita is the alarm system.

She alerts on anything that moves.
Anything that wanted to move.
Anything that might move later, depending on how the future unfolds.

On walks with the other four dogs, Rita must be in front. Always. Barking. Loudly. At dogs. At people. At leaves. At suspicious vibes. At absolutely nothing.

In her mind, she is holding the line.

And to be fair — she is.

Rita doesn’t have an off switch. She doesn’t believe in “false positives.” She doesn’t care if you think she’s overreacting. Her job is not to be subtle. Her job is to make sure nothing goes unnoticed.

This is not finesse.
This is not elegance.
This is coverage.

Inside the house, Rita follows us everywhere. Velcro dog status. Bathroom breaks included. Not because she’s insecure — but because security is a full-time job and she takes it seriously.

She needs to know where everyone is.
All the time.

Just in case.

And yet — here’s the part people don’t expect — Rita is also incredibly sweet. She wants affection. From anyone. Everyone is a friend she just hasn’t barked at long enough yet.

She’ll alert on you.
Then love you.
Sometimes simultaneously.

If Violet is the Queen, Rita is the siren.

Loud.
Relentless.
Impossible to ignore.

Together, they cover both ends of the spectrum:

• Violet notices when something is wrong.
• Rita makes damn sure everyone knows about it.

At this point, I’m realizing we may have accidentally built a more complete home security model than most organizations manage intentionally.
